Smith/Packett recently acquired an outdated nursing facility in Harnett County, North Carolina. The acquisition was made with explicit intention to redevelop it.
The Harnett facility home is a development that illustrates Smith/Packett’s ability to maintain operation of an older nursing facility, while undertaking the process to construct a replacement facility without negatively affecting ongoing operations.
Smith/Packett performed market studies and evaluated various sites. It met with local government and local business leaders. Smith/Packett ultimately contracted to acquire land for the replacement facility in a new campus, the centerpiece of which will be a new hospital.
Although others only saw the aged nursing facility, Smith/Packett instead envisioned a new facility positioned literally in the shadow of the new hospital. This state of the art facility will feature an increased number of single-patient rooms and larger, enhanced rehabilitation facilities, with improved profitability and better serve the senior citizens of Harnett County.
